Parish Fundraisers

The NKCC Parishes hold several fundraisers throughout the year to help contribute to daily parish operations and to bring the community together for fellowship, fun, and a lot of really great food! These events give parishioners and community volunteers a chance to build relationships and put their faith into action through acts of service.

Festa Italiana

The Festa Italiana is an annual celebration to build a sense of community among the members of the parish and to raise funds for needed capital projects in the parish.

In 1981, Father Ginocchi approached a group of young, active men in the parish with the request to establish a parish-wide social event. This group met with other people within the parish and concluded that the parish should have an Italian Festival. The VFW in Lower Burrell was the original site. The festival moved to the parish grounds in 2003. The Festa is held on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before the first Sunday ofAugust.

There are 10 members on the steering committee, and an additional 30 parishioners who serve as chairpersons with specific areas of responsibility.  During the three days of the festival, there are approximately 200 volunteers participating in this event.

There is a kick off Meeting in March/April followed by committee meetings in June and July and a wrap up meeting in September. Individual chairpersons will meet with their committees throughout May, June and July.

Volunteer sign-up begins mid-June/July for the various committees.

Lenten Fish Fry

The Mt. St. Peter weekly Lenten Fish Fry was started in 1997 to provide an additional source of income for the annual budget. Throughout the years, the menu has continued to expand to include pasta fagiole and linguini with clam sauce.

The Planning Committee meets twice before the beginning of Lent and once during the Easter Season. Before Lent the committee meets to set the menu and prices, and to assign responsibilities. After Easter, the committee and volunteers meet for a pizza and wing social as they evaluate the season and begin planning for the next year.

The fish fry is held on the six fridays of lent. There is no fish fry on Good Friday.
