The Addolorata Society

Mission and Its Fulfillment
The Addolorata Society of Mount Saint Peter Parish was established to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Sorrows.  The Society’s Mission is to support the parish as well as to promote the spiritual growth and well-being of its members.

To emphasize their devotion to the Mother of Sorrows, the members meet annually at the 10:30 am Sunday Mass closest to the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15. Following Mass, the members recite the Rosary and hold a business meeting.

In a prayerful tribute to all deceased members and their families, current Addolorata members attend the funeral Masses in a lighted candle procession.

Finally, The Society cooperates with other church groups for the good of the parish.

History
In 1903, a group of early "pioneer" women formed the Addolorata Society one year after the founding of Mt. St. Peter Church in New Kensington. The Addolorata Society has been able to actively maintain and sustain itself through several generations.
